Copyright Policy
Last updated: 17 October 2026
VeloCMS respects the rights of creators. Sites on VeloCMS are published by their owners. When we receive a valid notice that material on a site infringes copyright, we act on it as described here. This page is general information, not legal advice.
Reporting copyright infringement
Send a notice by email to [email protected] that includes all of the following. These are the elements required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), and the details that UK and EU notice procedures ask for:
- Your physical or electronic signature, as the copyright owner or a person authorised to act for the owner.
- A description of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed, or a representative list if one notice covers several works.
- The exact web address (URL) of each page or file you say infringes, with enough detail for us to find it.
- Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act for the owner.
Notices that are missing these elements may be delayed or rejected. Notices about trademarks and other rights, and general abuse reports, are handled under the Acceptable Use Policy.
What we do with a notice
- We review the notice. If it is complete and the material appears to infringe, we remove it or disable access to it promptly. For a digital product, we may disable its downloads.
- We tell the site owner what was removed and send them a copy of the notice. The notice contains your name and contact details, so the site owner will see them.
- We may contact you if we need more information.
Do not send a notice unless you are sure. Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages (17 U.S.C. § 512(f)).
Counter-notice
If you are a site owner and your material was removed by mistake or because it was misidentified, you can send a counter-notice to [email protected] that includes:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before it was removed.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith that the material was removed because of a mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address and telephone number, a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address (or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district where VeloCMS can be found), and a statement that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.
We send your counter-notice to the person who made the original notice. If they do not tell us within 10 business days that they have started a court action, we may restore the material no sooner than 10 and no later than 14 business days after we received your counter-notice.
Repeat infringers
We end the accounts of site owners who are repeat infringers, in appropriate circumstances. When we decide, we look at how many valid notices an account has received, what they were about, and whether any were successfully disputed with a counter-notice. We may suspend an account while we review.
