Turn Your Blog Into a Membership Site in 2026

Turning a plain content blog into a membership site usually means a platform's cut and a stack of plugins. Not here. I add tiers, paywall a post, and wire up magic-link logins for readers — payments landing straight in my own Stripe, no fee skimmed off the top. You've been giving your best writing away for free for years. What if the same blog — same posts, same readers — could quietly become a membership site? No migration, no second platform, no Patreon taking a cut. Let me turn a normal content blog into a paid membership, start to finish.

It starts in membership settings. I turn it on and build a couple of tiers — a free one so people can follow along, and a paid one, say six dollars a month, for the good stuff. Payments run through your own Stripe, so the money lands in your account, not ours.

Now the fun part — locking a post. In the editor I open the settings panel and switch this one from public to paid subscribers. That's the whole paywall. The intro still shows for search engines and curious readers; the rest is member-only. One toggle, done.

Here's the reader's side. They hit the paywall, subscribe, and sign in with a magic link — a one-tap email link, no password to forget. Pay once, and every members-only post just unlocks. Simple enough that people actually finish the checkout.

Every subscriber shows up in one place. The members dashboard lists who joined, which tier they're on, and lets you export the whole list whenever you want — because it's your audience, and you should be able to walk out the door with it. That's the point.

And a membership only works if members hear from you. When you publish, you can email the post straight to your list — right from the editor, no separate newsletter tool. New members-only piece goes up, everyone who's paying gets it in their inbox. That loop is the whole business.

Same blog, now a real membership — tiers, a paywall, magic-link sign-in, and your own Stripe. Start yours on the 14-day trial at velocms dot org.
