What it does
This plugin adds extra JSON-LD structured data to your blog posts, on top of the Article markup VeloCMS already writes. It has two switches, both off by default. With FAQ turned on, it reads the post body and treats each question heading directly followed by a paragraph as a question and its answer, once it finds at least two such pairs. With HowTo turned on, it turns the items of a numbered list into ordered steps. The markup is built when a post page is rendered and added to that page's structured data. If the post page already carries the same type, it is written once, never twice. You do not fill in any extra fields, and nothing is stored separately. Recipe markup has no switch here: VeloCMS adds it on its own to posts tagged recipe or with structured recipe content, whether or not this plugin is installed.
Who it's for
Bloggers who write question-and-answer posts or step-by-step tutorials and want search engines to be able to read that structure. It works best when your posts follow a clean pattern, with a question heading then its answer, or one numbered list per tutorial. If your posts are mostly free-flowing essays, switching these on will not add much.
How it works
You open the plugin settings and switch on FAQ schema, HowTo schema, or both, then save. Both start switched off.
A visitor, or a search crawler, opens one of your published blog posts.
For FAQ, the plugin pairs each question heading with the paragraph right after it and builds a FAQPage block when there are at least two pairs. For HowTo, it takes the numbered list items at the top level of the post and builds ordered steps.
The result is added to the page's JSON-LD alongside the Article data, unless the page already emitted that type. When a post has no matching structure, nothing is added.
Settings you configure
- FAQ Schema
- Pairs each question heading with the paragraph that follows it and marks the pairs up as FAQPage questions and answers. A heading counts as a question when it ends with a question mark or starts with a word like What, How or Why, in English or Arabic. At least two pairs are needed. Off by default.
- HowTo Schema
- Turns numbered lists in the post body into HowTo steps, using the post title as the name. Off by default.
What it can access
The plugin reads the title and body of your posts so it can find headings and numbered lists. It does not change your posts, make network requests, or send anything to a third party. The only output is JSON-LD added to the public post page when it renders. It adds a settings section to the admin area for the two switches.

Honest limits
The FAQ switch only takes headings that read as questions, meaning they end with a question mark or open with a question word. A question written as a statement is skipped, and a post with fewer than two pairs gets no FAQ markup.
VeloCMS can already add HowTo markup to posts with a tag starting how-to- or with a numbered list plus subheadings, and FAQPage markup to posts with an FAQ section. When the page has done so, that markup stays and the plugin adds nothing of the same type, so a post never gets two nodes of one type. Check the result in Google's Rich Results Test.
It only works on blog posts, and only on posts written in the editor. Pages, products and imported HTML without editor content are not read.
Only top-level numbered lists are used for HowTo, and all of them in a post are joined into one list of steps. A list nested inside another block is skipped, and steps carry text only, with no images or time estimates.
The markup makes a post eligible for rich results. Google decides whether to show them.
Frequently asked questions
Are the schema types switched on by default?
No. FAQ and HowTo both start off. Nothing is added to your posts until you turn a switch on and save.
Do I have to write anything extra for the markup?
No. It is built from the headings, paragraphs and numbered lists already in your post. Nothing is entered by hand.
Could a post end up with two FAQ or HowTo blocks?
No. When the post page already emits FAQPage or HowTo markup of its own, that one is kept and the plugin adds nothing of the same type.
Does it add Recipe markup?
No, and it does not need to. Posts tagged recipe, or with structured recipe content, get Recipe markup automatically on every site, with this plugin installed or not. There is no Recipe switch in the settings.
How can I check what was added?
Open a published post and test its URL with Google's Rich Results Test. Search Console reports which structured data types it detected after the next crawl.
