Wishlist for your shoppers
Let signed-in shoppers save products, turn the wishlist on in Commerce settings, and learn how the price-drop and low-stock emails and member page work.
The wishlist lets a signed-in shopper save products and come back to them later. For each saved item the shopper can also switch on an email for a price drop or for low stock. You control whether the wishlist appears in your store with one setting.
Turn the wishlist on or off
Go to Admin → Settings → Commerce and find the Wishlist section. Choose one of three options and select Save:
- Automatic — the wishlist is on when your store sells products and off on a pure blog. This is the behavior when nothing has been chosen.
- Always on — the wishlist is shown regardless.
- Off — the wishlist is hidden.
Only the store owner can change this setting.
Off hides the wishlist toggle, the header icon and the account section, and the member wishlist page returns a not-found page. It also stops every wishlist email, including the low-stock email.
What shoppers see
- An Add to wishlist control on product pages and, in themes that include it, on the shop grid.
- A guest sees Sign in to save. Only signed-in members can keep a wishlist.
- A wishlist can hold up to 200 items. Past that, the shopper sees "Your wishlist is full. Remove an item to save another."
- A wishlist page at /member/wishlist titled Saved Items, with the same list shown in the member's account area. Each row shows the price, a price-dropped marker when the current price is below the price at the time of saving, and a stock state.
Price-drop and low-stock emails
Both emails are opt-in per item. On the wishlist page each saved item has two switches, Notify me of price drops and Notify when low stock, and both start off. Each email carries an unsubscribe link that turns off that notification for that item.
- Price drop — an email can be sent when an item's current price is lower than the price it had when the shopper saved it. After the email is sent, the saved price is updated to the current price, so the same drop is not mailed twice. A scheduled job checks for drops once a day, at 05:30 UTC. A drop is therefore emailed the next morning, not the moment you change the price. Only active (published) products are checked.
- Low stock — an email can be sent when stock falls to or below the low-stock threshold. It goes out together with your own low-stock alert, once per product for that event, and is checked right after an order and by a daily scan at 07:00 UTC. It is sent again only after stock has recovered above the threshold and fallen back.
Low-stock emails depend on the product's low-stock threshold. A product uses its own threshold, then the store-wide threshold, then 5. A threshold of 0, or low-stock alerts switched off for the product, means no alert and no wishlist email. Items with unlimited stock never trigger it.
Products with variants
A shopper saves the product as a whole, not one size or colour. For price drops, the price compared is the lowest price among the product's active variants, the same "From" price shoppers see in the shop, so the shopper is emailed when that lowest price falls below the price at the time of saving. For low stock, the shopper is emailed when any active variant crosses the threshold.
