How Do I Import My Wix Site to VeloCMS?

Wix doesn't give you an export button for your blog — its own support docs say so plainly. VeloCMS works around that by reading your site the way a visitor would: your public blog feed, your sitemap, and your pages. Paste your Wix site's URL and VeloCMS pulls in your posts, pages, and store products as drafts, with images re-hosted automatically. No Wix login, no API key.
Where do I start the import?
Go to Admin → Import and open the Wix card (or head straight to Admin → Import → Wix). Paste your site's public address into the Wix site URL field — something like yoursite.wixsite.com/mysite if you're still on Wix's free tier, or your own custom domain if you've connected one — then click Preview import. Nothing gets written to your VeloCMS site at this step; it's a read-only look at what's out there.
What does VeloCMS actually read from my Wix site?
The importer follows the same ladder your browser would: your blog's RSS feed for post content, your sitemap to discover pages, and the pages themselves for anything the feed misses. Because none of this needs Wix credentials, it works on any public Wix site — including a free wixsite.com address that's never had a custom domain attached.
What do I see before anything imports?
The preview screen shows four counts — Products found, Posts found, Pages found, and Media re-hosted — so you know what you're about to bring in before committing to anything. If the scan comes back empty, double-check the site is actually public and try again; if the import service is temporarily over its usage limit, VeloCMS says so plainly instead of pretending nothing was found.
What we can and can't reach: Wix doesn't offer an official export for blog posts or pages, so VeloCMS reads your public site directly — its blog feed, sitemap, and pages. Content behind a login, dynamic pages, and Wix-specific blocks (forms, bookings, members areas) can't be read this way. Your design doesn't transfer — you'll pick a VeloCMS theme.
Is there a limit on how much comes in at once?
Yes — a single run processes up to 30 pages of content. If your site has more than that, the preview lists which URLs were skipped and why, and you can simply run the import again afterward: VeloCMS recognizes what it already brought in and marks it Already imported rather than duplicating it, so re-running is safe.
Does everything import as published content?
No — every post, page, and product lands as a draft. Nothing goes live on your VeloCMS site automatically. That's deliberate: content pulled from a public feed can have formatting quirks worth a quick look before your readers see it.
What should I do once the import finishes?
Head to Admin → Posts to review what came in, clean up anything that needs it, and publish when you're happy. Since your Wix design doesn't carry over, pick one of VeloCMS's 39 themes to rebuild the visual side — that's a same-afternoon job, not a rebuild-from-scratch one, and it only needs to happen once.
