Sell custom merch with Printify, Printful, and Gelato
Connect Printify, Printful, or Gelato to sell print-on-demand products directly from your blog — zero inventory, auto-fulfilled orders.
Print-on-demand lets you sell branded merchandise — t-shirts, mugs, art prints, phone cases — without holding a single unit of inventory. You connect your print partner, import their product catalog into your store, and whenever a reader buys something, the order goes to the printer who ships it directly to the customer. VeloCMS connects to three print-on-demand networks: Printify, Printful, and Gelato.
Printify — the largest catalog
Printify connects you to 80+ print partners worldwide, giving you the most product variety and competitive base prices. The idea is that you pick a print partner in the region closest to your buyers, keeping shipping times and costs down.
To connect Printify: go to Admin → Plugins → Printify and install the plugin. You'll need a Printify Personal Access Token — find it under My Account → Connections → API Access → Generate Token. Paste it into the API Token field and click Connect. Printify will return a list of your shops; select the one you want to link to your VeloCMS store. Save settings, then use the Import Products button to pull your existing Printify catalog into your store. Products appear in Admin → Shop → Products where you can set prices and visibility.
Each time you add or update a product in Printify, hit the Import Products button again to sync changes to VeloCMS. Automatic real-time sync is on the roadmap.
Printful — premium quality and fulfilment reliability
Printful owns and operates its own fulfilment centres rather than acting as a marketplace, which means tighter quality control and more consistent shipping times. It costs a bit more per unit than Printify, but many creators find the quality worth it — particularly for photography prints and premium apparel.
Connecting Printful is similar to Printify: Admin → Plugins → Printful → install → enter your Printful API Key (found under Printful Dashboard → Settings → API → Generate Key) → connect → import products. The sync model is the same: import pulls your current Printful catalog into your VeloCMS store.
Gelato — for creators with a global audience
Gelato specializes in local production — it prints in the country where the buyer lives. That means faster delivery and lower carbon footprint compared to shipping from a single warehouse. If your readership is genuinely global (Europe, Americas, Asia all in the mix), Gelato can be the smartest pick.
To connect Gelato: Admin → Plugins → Gelato → enter your Gelato API Key (Gelato Dashboard → API Keys) → save. Import your products the same way as with the other connectors. Gelato automatically routes each order to the nearest production facility when it's placed — no config required on your end.
Choosing between the three
Use Printify if you want the widest product selection and the lowest base prices. Use Printful if consistent quality and in-house production matter more to you than price. Use Gelato if your audience is international and you want local production in each region. You can use only one print-on-demand connector at a time. Switching is straightforward — disable one plugin, enable another, and re-import products.
How orders flow
When a buyer checks out on your blog, VeloCMS marks the order as pending. The print connector picks up the order and submits it to your print partner automatically. The partner prints, packages, and ships to the buyer directly. You receive a notification when the order ships and can track it from Admin → Shop → Orders. There's nothing to pack or ship yourself.
