What it does
Brevo Sync keeps one Brevo contact list in step with the people who join your site. Whenever a member record is created, whether through the email sign-in link, a checkout, a CSV import or the migration wizard, the plugin creates or updates a Brevo contact with that email and adds it to the list you picked. The display name is split at the first space into Brevo's FIRSTNAME and LASTNAME attributes. Later events follow the same contact. A reader who leaves your newsletter, or whose address hard-bounces or files a spam complaint, gets blacklisted for email in Brevo, which stops campaigns but keeps the contact and its lists. Deleting a member from your admin, through the API or by a GDPR request removes the contact from Brevo. Every attempt is logged on the member as ok or failed.
Who it's for
Creators and small shops who write their campaigns and automations in Brevo but collect readers on a VeloCMS site. It helps most when people arrive from several directions, such as free signups, paid checkouts and a list you imported from another platform, and you want them all in one Brevo list without exporting files. You need a Brevo API key and the number of the list you want to fill.
How it works
Open the plugin in your admin, paste a Brevo API key that starts with xkeysib-, type the numeric ID of the contact list, and save. Both fields must be filled and the list ID must be digits only.
Someone becomes a member of your site. Large imports are fed through a few at a time instead of all at once.
The plugin posts the email, first name and last name to Brevo with updating enabled, so a known address is refreshed and a new one is created, then placed on your list.
If that reader later unsubscribes, bounces hard or reports spam, the plugin marks their address as blacklisted in Brevo. Their list memberships stay where they are.
If you delete the member, the plugin asks Brevo to delete the contact before the VeloCMS record goes away.
Settings you configure
- Brevo API Key
- Create one in Brevo under Settings, API Keys. It begins with xkeysib-. When you reopen the form the field holds a mask, not your key, and you only paste a new one when you rotate it.
- Contact List ID
- The number Brevo shows next to the list under Contacts, Lists, for example 12. Every synced member is added to this one list.
What it can access
At signup the plugin sees the new member's email address and display name. On an unsubscribe or a deletion it sees only that member's email. It never opens your posts, orders or payment data. All requests go to api.brevo.com. The API key is encrypted before it is written to your site's settings, and the admin form never sends it back to the browser.
Permissions

Honest limits
Members who joined before you saved the settings are not sent. Only new member records trigger a sync.
Everything flows from VeloCMS to Brevo. Unsubscribes, edits or deletions you make inside Brevo do not change anything on your site.
Only the email, first name and last name are sent, to a single list. Tiers, tags and other Brevo attributes are not filled in.
Contacts are added to the list directly. The plugin does not use Brevo's double opt-in confirmation flow.
A member who changes their display name after joining is not updated in Brevo, because profile edits are not synced.
Deleting a member deletes the Brevo contact outright, including its history in Brevo. A newsletter opt-out only blacklists the address.
A failed signup sync can be resent by hand from the integrations activity page. Failed blacklist or delete calls are logged on the member but have no resend button.
If Brevo is down or rejects the key, signups, unsubscribes and deletions on your site still complete. The plugin never holds them up.
Frequently asked questions
Will it create duplicate contacts if a member is synced twice?
No. Every request asks Brevo to update an existing contact with the same email instead of failing, so a repeat simply refreshes the name and list.
What is the difference between an unsubscribe and a deletion?
An unsubscribe, hard bounce or spam complaint blacklists the address in Brevo and keeps the contact. Deleting the member on your site deletes the contact in Brevo as well.
Can I send members to more than one Brevo list?
Not with this plugin. It takes one numeric list ID. If you need segments, build them in Brevo from that list.
How do I know whether a member reached Brevo?
Each attempt is recorded against the member as ok or failed, with the HTTP status when Brevo refused it. Failed signup syncs appear on the integrations activity page with a retry option.
