What it does
This plugin keeps Klaviyo informed about two things. When a new reader becomes a member, it creates or updates a Klaviyo profile for their email address with their first name, and subscribes that profile to a list if you set a list ID. When a purchase goes through, it sends a Placed Order event with the order value to Klaviyo, so your post-purchase flows can start. It also sends a Fulfilled Order event when a physical item ships and a Refunded Order event after a refund. Each event carries a unique ID so a replay is not counted twice. When a reader opts out or their member record is deleted, the plugin suppresses their profile in Klaviyo.
Who it's for
Shop and membership owners who run their email and SMS flows in Klaviyo and want those flows to react to what happens on their VeloCMS site: a new signup, a purchase, a refund. It is most useful if you sell products or memberships. If you only collect newsletter signups, the simpler sync plugins for other email tools may be enough.
How it works
You paste your Klaviyo private API key, and optionally a list ID, into the plugin settings and save. Once the key is saved you can run the connection test.
A new member signs up on your site. The plugin creates or updates their Klaviyo profile, and subscribes it to your list when a list ID is set.
A purchase completes. The plugin sends a Placed Order event with the order ID, the order value and the customer's email.
When an item of a physical order is marked shipped, a Fulfilled Order event is sent, and when an order is refunded, a Refunded Order event is sent.
When a reader unsubscribes or their member record is deleted, the plugin suppresses their profile in Klaviyo.
Settings you configure
- Private API Key
- Found in Klaviyo under Settings, API Keys. It is stored encrypted and never shown again after you save. Once it is saved, a Test Connection button sends a small test event to check that Klaviyo accepts it.
- List ID
- Optional. New members are subscribed to this Klaviyo list. Found in Klaviyo under Lists and Segments, then the list's Settings.
- Sync new members
- On by default. When switched off, new members are no longer sent to Klaviyo. Opt-outs and member deletions still suppress the profile in Klaviyo.
- Send Placed Order events
- On by default. Streams a Placed Order event to Klaviyo after each successful purchase.
What it can access
The plugin reads the email address and display name of each new member at signup. After a purchase it reads the order ID, the order total and the customer's email. It does not read line items or your posts. Outbound calls go only to a.klaviyo.com. Your private API key is stored encrypted and is not shown again in plain text.

Honest limits
Only members and orders created after you install and configure the plugin are sent. Past members and past orders are not backfilled.
The sync is one way. Nothing you change in Klaviyo flows back into VeloCMS.
Order events carry the order ID, the order value and your tenant ID. Line items, product names and quantities are not sent.
The Public API Key field is saved but not used for anything yet.
Fulfilled Order and Refunded Order events are sent by default, and the settings screen has no switch for them.
If Klaviyo is unreachable or rejects a request, the failure is logged and the signup or order still goes through. A failed signup sync can be retried by hand with the Retry sync button on the integrations activity page in your admin. A failed order event is not retried.
Frequently asked questions
Which Klaviyo key do I need?
The private API key, from Klaviyo under Settings, API Keys. After you save the key, the Test Connection button on the settings screen tells you whether Klaviyo accepted it.
Which events does Klaviyo receive?
Placed Order after a successful purchase, Fulfilled Order when a physical item ships, and Refunded Order after a refund. Each one is sent with the order ID, the order value and the customer's email.
Can I turn the order events off?
You can switch off Placed Order events with the Send Placed Order events toggle. The Fulfilled Order and Refunded Order events have no switch on the settings screen.
Will my existing members and past orders be added?
No. The plugin acts on new signups and new orders only. Earlier members and orders need to be imported into Klaviyo separately.
