Newsletter Popup
A signup popup on your posts that you time, word and limit yourself
What it does
Newsletter Popup places a centred dialog over your blog posts with a headline, a short line of text, an email box, a subscribe button and a way to say no thanks. You decide when it appears: after a number of seconds, once the reader has scrolled to a chosen share of the page, or when the pointer moves out through the top of the browser window. You write the headline, the body text and both button labels. Submissions go to the newsletter you already set up, and the reader gets a confirmation message once the address is accepted.
Who it's for
Bloggers and publishers who already collect subscribers and want one more place to ask for them, without editing every theme. It suits a site that sends a newsletter and would like readers of its best posts to see an invitation at a moment you choose. It is not a fit if your newsletter is not set up yet, because the popup needs somewhere to send the address.
How it works
Set up a newsletter first: connect Kit, Beehiiv or Mailchimp in your integrations, or switch on the built-in newsletter. The popup sends subscribers there.
Install and enable the Newsletter Popup plugin, then open its settings. Pick the trigger: Time Delay, Exit Intent or Scroll Percentage, and set the seconds or the percentage.
Write the popup title, the body text, the button label and the dismiss label. Choose whether it should be shown once per visitor. Save.
When a visitor opens a blog post, the page loads the popup settings and the trigger runs in their browser. If they enter an email, the page passes it to your newsletter setup.
Settings you configure
- Trigger
- Time Delay shows it after the visitor has been on the page for a set time. Exit Intent shows it when the pointer moves out through the top edge. Scroll Percentage shows it past a chosen share of the page. Time Delay is the default.
- Delay
- Only for Time Delay. A slider from 0 to 300 seconds in steps of 5. The starting value is 5 seconds.
- Scroll threshold
- Only for Scroll Percentage. A slider from 10 to 100 percent in steps of 5. The starting value is 50 percent.
- Popup Title and Body Text
- Your own headline, up to 128 characters, and a short line below it, up to 256 characters. The starting texts are Stay in the loop and a line about getting new posts by email.
- CTA Button Label and Dismiss Label
- The wording of the subscribe button, up to 64 characters, and of the no-thanks link, up to 32. The starting words are Subscribe and No thanks.
- Show once per visitor
- On by default. After the visitor closes the popup, it stays away for good in that browser. A visitor who subscribes never sees it again, even with this option off.
What it can access
The popup runs in the visitor's browser and stores a small flag in the browser's local storage: one when a visitor subscribes, and one when they close the popup with show once on. When someone submits an email address, the page sends it to your own site, which passes it to the newsletter provider you chose, or to the built-in newsletter. Submissions are rate limited per visitor address and email. The plugin has no outside network access of its own and does not read your members list.

Honest limits
It appears only on individual blog posts, not on your home page or other pages.
It needs a working newsletter setup. Without one, the popup can still open, but a submission ends in an error message.
The popup does not know whether a visitor is already subscribed, so existing subscribers will see it too.
Show once is remembered per browser, not per person. A visitor on another browser or device, or one who clears site data or browses privately, sees the popup again. With show once off, a closed popup can return on every post, but a subscribed visitor still never sees it again.
Exit Intent works with a mouse pointer and does nothing on a phone. If you want the popup on mobile, use Time Delay or Scroll Percentage.
The headline, body text and button labels are exactly what you type, in one language only. Fixed texts such as the email placeholder and the thank-you message follow the page language.
There is a single popup design. You can change its words, not its layout or colours; it takes your theme's colours.
Frequently asked questions
Does a subscriber get a confirmation email?
With the built-in newsletter, yes: the visitor is sent a confirmation link, and your double opt-in setting applies. With Kit, Beehiiv or Mailchimp, what happens next follows that provider's own settings.
Will it annoy readers who already closed it?
With show once on, it stays closed in that browser for good. Turn it off only if you want it to keep returning.
Can I show the popup only on some posts?
No. When the plugin is enabled and set up, it can appear on all your blog posts.
What does a reader see after submitting?
A short thank-you inside the popup, which then closes by itself after a few seconds. If the address is rejected or the rate limit applies, they see an error and can try again.
