How automatic appointment email reminders work
VeloCMS emails your customer 24 hours and 2 hours before their booked appointment automatically — no setup required.
Every confirmed appointment booked through VeloCMS's Appointments module — garages included — automatically gets two reminder emails sent to the customer: one roughly 24 hours before the appointment, and a second roughly 2 hours before it. There's nothing to turn on; it runs for every tenant using the bookings feature.
What the reminder contains
The email names the service booked, the date and time, and your garage's name. It's sent from VeloCMS's transactional email system, not from your own inbox, so there's no extra email account to manage.
Reminders only go out for appointments that are still confirmed at send time — cancel or reschedule an appointment and the reminder for it is never sent. Each reminder is also only ever sent once per appointment, even if something briefly interrupts the sending job.
SMS reminders and MOT-expiry reminders
The garage setup step lets you choose email and/or SMS as your preferred reminder channels, and set how many days before MOT expiry you'd like a customer reminded. Those preferences are saved today, but the automatic MOT-expiry-reminder engine and SMS delivery for it are still being rolled out — a garage owner shouldn't yet rely on customers being texted or emailed automatically ahead of their MOT running out. The 24h/2h appointment email reminders above are the reminder feature that is live today.
