Tapfiliate

What it does

Tapfiliate runs your affiliate program, and this plugin tells it about every sale. When an order is completed on your store, the plugin sends a conversion to your Tapfiliate account with the VeloCMS order ID as the external ID, the order total as the amount, and the buyer's email address as the customer. Tapfiliate then matches the conversion to the affiliate who referred that customer and works out the commission under your program's rules. It reports every order, digital or physical. It does not add any tracking to your pages, and it does not change the order or the checkout in any way.

Who it's for

Store owners who already run an affiliate program in Tapfiliate and want commissions based on real completed orders instead of manual reconciliation. You should be comfortable setting up affiliate links and click tracking on the Tapfiliate side, because this plugin only reports the sale afterwards. If you want a program that tracks clicks for you, this plugin alone will not do that.

How it works

   In Tapfiliate, copy your API key from Settings, API Keys. In VeloCMS, open the Tapfiliate plugin, paste the key, switch on Enable Tapfiliate and save. The key is stored encrypted.

   Press Test Connection. Tapfiliate has no simple check call, so VeloCMS submits one zero-amount conversion for a test customer. The test fails only if Tapfiliate rejects the key.

   When a customer completes an order that has an email address, VeloCMS sends the conversion to Tapfiliate in the background.

Settings you configure

API Key

Found in Tapfiliate under Settings, API Keys. Stored encrypted and never shown back after you save.

Attribution mode

Customer email or Referral code. Choose Customer email. Referral code has no source yet, because VeloCMS does not capture a referral code at checkout, so it behaves exactly like Customer email today.

Enable Tapfiliate

The master switch. It starts off, and nothing is reported while it is off, even if a key is saved.

Report completed orders

Sends a conversion after each completed order. It is on by default and only matters once the connector is enabled.

Test Connection

Submits one zero-amount conversion for a test customer. A pass shows the key works, not that the test conversion counts as a sale.

What it can access

After a completed order, the plugin reads the order ID, the order total and the customer's email address. It sends those three details to api.tapfiliate.com and nowhere else. It does not read shipping addresses, your posts or your members. Your Tapfiliate API key is stored encrypted and is never shown back in plain text.

Honest limits

• VeloCMS does not add Tapfiliate's click-tracking script to your pages. The affiliate links, and how Tapfiliate ties a click to a customer's email, are set up on the Tapfiliate side.

• The plugin identifies the buyer to Tapfiliate by email only. Whether a conversion earns an affiliate a commission is decided by Tapfiliate and your program rules, not by VeloCMS.

• The Referral code attribution mode is not wired to a source. It behaves like Customer email.

• An order with no customer email is skipped.

• The connection test submits a zero-amount conversion for a test customer into your Tapfiliate account. Check your account if that matters to you.

• If Tapfiliate is unreachable or rejects the key, the sale still goes through. The failure is recorded in the connector activity and is not retried automatically.

• Only orders completed after you connect are reported. Refunds and cancellations are not sent.
