What this integration does — and what it deliberately does not

TaxJar can play two different roles in a commerce stack, and VeloCMS uses exactly one of them. Stripe Tax calculates and collects sales tax at the moment of checkout — that calculation never changes because TaxJar is connected. What the TaxJar connector does is report: after an order is completed, it sends the buyer's destination address, the order total, shipping, and the sales tax Stripe already collected to your TaxJar transaction list, so your sales-tax returns reflect real sales. If an order's tax amount is genuinely unknowable — for example a checkout that did not record it — VeloCMS skips filing that order rather than reporting a false zero, and flags it so you know it needs a manual look.

Completed orders sync automatically

Every completed order sends its destination address, total, shipping, and collected tax to TaxJar's transaction list — no manual export.

Never double-taxes

This connector only reports tax that Stripe Tax already collected. It cannot add or recalculate tax on a sale.

Honest about gaps

An order whose tax amount can't be determined is skipped and flagged rather than filed with a made-up zero.

Where to find it in admin

    Admin → Plugins → TaxJar. Save your TaxJar API token and your nexus / ship-from address. VeloCMS encrypts the token at rest and tests the connection before saving.

    That's it. Every completed order syncs to TaxJar automatically. Keep Stripe Tax enabled in Admin → Settings — it stays the one calculating tax at checkout.

Use cases

A store owner who files sales tax in multiple states can stop exporting order CSVs by hand and let TaxJar's transaction list build itself as orders complete. A creator using TaxJar AutoFile can keep their existing filing workflow while VeloCMS feeds it accurate, real-time transaction data. An accountant reviewing a client's books gets a TaxJar record that matches VeloCMS orders line for line, because the tax figure is never recalculated — only reported.
